Bio

The son of legendary Joy Division and New Order bass pioneer Peter Hook, Jack began playing bass himself at the age of 12.

As well as always holding a desire to follow in his father's footsteps and become a musician, Jack was a diligent and keen student academically, excelling in modern foreign languages. Jack holds qualifications in French, Spanish and Italian, as well as having also studied Portuguese and Catalan.

Music was always Jack's main passion, and he played in various bands with his friends during his teenage years. In 2010, at the age of 20, Jack was asked by his father to join him on stage for a concert - it was then that Peter Hook & The Light was born. Despite initially only planning to play 1 show in Manchester to celebrate the 30th anniversary of Joy Division's 'Unknown Pleasures' album, one sold out night quickly became two, and the band have been touring across the globe ever since.

To date, Jack has played almost 500 live shows all around the world with Peter Hook & The Light -  from Brazil to Mongolia, Australia to Japan, and everywhere else inbetween! The band have gained a reputation for high energy, 3 hour shows - please check out the press section for detailed reviews.

As well as performing with Peter Hook & The Light, Jack is also responsible for the maintenance and upkeep of all the band's websites and social media. He also arranges and oversees the production and sales of all merchandise.

While playing with The Light, Jack has also shared the stage with many other established musicians who have appeared as guests at their live shows such as Billy Corgan, Perry Farrell, Mark Lanegan, Moby, Tim Burgess & Tim Booth.

Billy Corgan's appearances in Chicago with The Light led to Jack being asked to join up with his band, The Smashing Pumpkins, in 2015 for a 24 date co-headlining summer tour of North America with Marilyn Manson. This was dubbed 'The End Times Tour' and gave Jack the opportunity to perform as part of one of his favourite bands alongside Corgan, Jimmy Chamberlin and Jeff Schroeder. Jack also performed with the Pumpkins in 2016 in New York City at the band's 3 night Beacon Theatre residency.

In 2018, Jack reprised his role as bassist for the Smashing Pumpkins on their "Shiny And Oh So Bright" North American arena tour - a 40+ date trek across the US & Canada which was met with critical acclaim and featured sold out shows at Chicago’s United Center, the Forum in Los Angeles and New York City’s infamous Madison Square Garden.

As part of the tour, Jack also performed live on major television & radio shows including the Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon and Howard Stern’s Sirius XM radio programme.

Jack lives primarily in Manchester, UK but spends a lot of time in the US.
